About Dyslexia in Welwyn
My name is Adrienne Viall and I am based in Welwyn Garden City. I was a Primary School teacher and Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) for many years. I now currently work supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in Hertfordshire. I offer private educational screeners and assessments to children in Welwyn and surrounding areas and full diagnostic dyslexia assessments. I also offer support to schools.
I have worked for over 20 years in Hertfordshire supporting children and young people with special educational needs. It is a passion of mind to ensure that all children and young people have their needs identified and access to the support they need to flourish educationally. I wanted to make educational assessments more accessible for all!
I have a Masters in Education at Cambridge in Leading Teaching and Learning and I have a number of post graduate qualifications in Special Educational Needs. I am also a qualified Maths Specialist Teacher and a Specialist Dyslexia Teacher/Tutor. I am a fully qualified and insured Educational and Dyslexic Assessor.

Services & Assessments
Dyslexia and Literacy Screeners
I offer short dyslexia or educational screeners which each consist of 3-4 assessments to help indicate whether your child or young person has any educational difficulties and whether a more in-depth assessment is required.
A 2 page report is shared with assessment data, standardised scores, percentile rank and descriptive analysis alongside key recommendations.

Visual Perception and Motor Coordination Assessment
I offer Visual Perception and Motor Coordination Assessments which assess your child or young person's hand eye coordination and their individual visual and motor abilities. It includes 3 assessments which tests their ability to copy a sequence of geometric forms with paper and pencil.
A 2 page report is shared with assessment data including standardised scores, percentile rankings and descriptive analysis of visual, motor and combines visual motor scores. The report also contains key recommendations for school and home.

Dyslexia and Literacy Short Assessments
I offer longer dyslexia or educational assessments which each consist of 9 assessments to help indicate whether your child or young person has any learning difficulties and whether a more in-depth assessment is required.
A 4 page report is shared with relative strengths and difficulties, assessment data including standardised scores and percentile ranks, descriptive analysis and recommendations.

Writing Assessment
I offer Writing Assessments which assesses your child or young person's hand copying speed and accuracy, sequencing speed and measures words-per-minute handwriting; using the skills related to academic writing demands. It tests their ability to assemble thoughts, structure ideas and information and present the whole in a logical and sequential order when writing under timed conditions. This contains 5 assessments. A 3 page report is shared with assessment data, words per minute, descriptive analysis of their writing (including motor control) and also recommendations for school and home.

Cost - £200 (including the written report)
Receptive Vocabulary Screener
I offer a short receptive vocabulary screener which consist of 1 assessment to help indicate whether your child or young person has any difficulties with hearing vocabulary and whether further assessment is required by a speech and language therapist.
A 1 page report is shared with assessment data, standardised score, percentile rank and descriptive analysis alongside key recommendations.

Full Diagnostic Dyslexia Assessments
I offer full diagnostic dyslexia assessments which consist of approximately 28 assessments.​ This is only offered to children and young people aged 8 and over in accordance with SASC guidelines. This is a comprehensive assessment lasting approximately 3 hours and also includes questionnaires and background information from home and school.
A 20+ page report will be shared with relative strengths and weaknesses highlighted and a comprehensive list of recommendations. A diagnosis of dyslexia may be given but this is not guaranteed. ​

Cost - £550 - including a non-refundable deposit of £100
School Support
​I can offer educational assessments to individuals or groups of pupils in schools and provide summary reports that can be used to support provision, apply for funding, or support an EHCP request.
A day of support could include:

individual pupil consultations, including observation, standardised assessments and reports

group assessments, including observations, standardised assessments and reports.

Senco support, including a review of literacy interventions, discussing unnamed children, supporting use of assessments etc.

Cost - £350 per day (minimum of 5 hours)
(Reduced price of £300 for local schools in WGC and Hatfield)
